
Harumi Sako is a japanese artist and has been crafting her art over 20 years.
Harumi was born in Tokyo, Japan. She studied graphic design at the Tokyo Designers College from 1976 to 1978. She studied at Seto Vocational School from 1978 to 1979. In the United States, she studied Clay and Glaze Technology at Mesa College with John Conrad in 1998 and 2000. She studied with Lana Wilson in the Honors Ceramics Course in 1998 and 2000.
She worked at Sun Art Ceramics in Seto, Japan from 1979 to 1981 and Hishokuyaki Ceramics in Tokomame, Japan from 1981 to 1984. Presently, she works in her studio in Point Loma.
Harumi finds clay to be the most stimulating and rewarding medium to work in. She wants to make functional ware that shows good craftsmanship in its making. She wants her non-functional work to express her thoughts and feelings and to be appreciated by sight and contact with her work.
