Andrew Marino is a San Diego based artist. He creates drawings and paintings developed as visceral and sometimes narrative interpretations of landscapes and still-life.
'I have watched Andrew paint in nature, he spends time taking in his surroundings, the temperature, the smells, the breeze, the colors and shapes, almost becomes it. He starts with a life drawing with charcoal, then adds washes of color. As the painting progresses you sense he wants to include part of the environment. He will take branch as a painting stick or sometimes add dirt around the canvas. The painter, canvas and nature becomes one. We also have earlier works of Andrew's from the early 2000's.
