The background of this painting is multi layers with recycled paper with a geli print technique, acrylic and lime wash paint which has a very matt and earthy finish, I like the duality of paint finishes. The buffalo is a mix of gold powder which gives it a wonderful glow and acrylic paint. created on a wooden box I made from scratch, 12 x 9 x 2 deep inches. Some of the paper wraps around the wood on the sides.
It's moody and dark, but the gold will catch the light beautifully, the nice pop of red and white accents. i was inspired by tramp art wooden boxes and created an folklore edge with paint and water color crayons. the red and white I did a chinoiserie technique, dark colors in the background with light on top.
