This painting is part of series, mixing a few different medias. First I applied Marmarino plaster onto my wood base, its a traditional Italian wall stone plaster. It has a lot of character as is because it has travertine and marble dust in it. I free handed my plate and orange once plaster dried, the idea was to make the plate as plain as possible to see the plaster through. The orange is oil painted and painted very lightly, the color was rubbed on with a dry brush giving it a worn out look. The table cloth I used a silkscreen technique and painted through my screen to give it nuance. I love shadows, therefore I exaggerated my shadow for fun. I struggled with the background, but dark finish made the most sense in the end and especially because the subject then stood out.
16 x 20 inches inches finished in January 2023. It is mounted on a wood piece, painted a color in the back that reflects on the wall. The panel looks like its floating, no frame for full effect.
